Read more Tips for Attracting Hummingbirds Know when to expect Hummingbirds in your area and have multiple feeders hanging in your yard before they arrive. Hummingbirds are drawn to the color red. Placing red objects like feeders, native flowers, even red ribbons around your yard will draw their attention. Hummingbirds are territorial. Place Hummingbird feeders a good distance apart from one another, and hang swings within sight of the feeder so the birds can watch over their food source. Choose locations near trees or shrubs which offer protection from predators. Keep nectar feeders clean, and deter ants with moats. Add a water mister or dripper near your Hummingbird feeders. Hummers are attracted to the sound of moving water, and will use the water to keep themselves clean! Read more

Bought this December last year and forgot to write a review. I wanted to put up in early spring and see if it would be used. I was confident it would be, we are in the PNW and have Anna's hummingbirds year-round. We have lots of them visit daily. We have a large rhododendron "tree" that is bird central for all species of birds. I hung it there in February. I put it out earlier than intended because Anna's hummingbird start breeding in December. It didn't take long before I had my first customer. A female Anna's (the females do all the nest building,) collected a chunk of cotton and flew off. Return and repeat over the course of many months. Starting in May, we've had tons of lesser goldfinch clinging to the side of the helper collecting big wads of cotton and flying off. So awesome. It definitely gets used! I'm sure other species have borrowed some material too. We have so MANY birds here. If you do too, I would definitely recommend this product. Hang near a sturdy tree or large sturdy shrub where you see the hummingbirds and other birds hang out. They will discover it in no time. If it happens to be near food stations, all the more convenient. I've seen both Anna's and a lesser goldfinch try to eat with cotton hanging out of their mouths! Multi-tasking? One last thing, if you get a heavy rain, you can easily hang in a garage or somewhere and the material will quickly dry out. I've had no issue with mildew or mold growth. On an especially windy day, the nest material hangar blew off. No harm done except that I had to think of a better way to hang the wire frame to the tree limb. The S-hook needs a larger hanging half of the S. (I apologize if that isn't clear.)Unfortunately, my backyard birds did not find this cotton to be useful for nesting. It is mostly still in the cage months after I put it up.The hummingbirds and sparrows have decimated it!! I have it hanging on a branch outside a kitchen window and watch them grab their loot. A sparrow took some the size of its head and then came back for MORE. The hummingbirds are BUSY with it as well. It is more than 2/3’s gone! Their baby chicks are resting and growing in some very COMFY nests!Could not get the camera function to work. Impressive how much they have used!!We hung this near our bird feeders. Our flying friends have used most of the item. We enjoy having lots of birds in our yard.Purchased for hummingbirds but squirrels have gone to town on it.?The birds are slow to discover it, but it is well-made and contains a lot of quality nesting material. It's wonderfully rewarding to see this being used by our hummingbirds. We know they're using it because our feeders have little tufts of fluff on them, and a few days ago I saw one of our flying jewels actually taking some of the cotton.A great addition to our garden. Also sent this to my Mother who has quite a few Humming Birds in the yard. Once I explained that the Humming Birds use the fluff from this cage to line their nests she was very happy to receive this for a Christmas present. Since she has everything that she needs inside, I have been sending her bird feeders, bee houses and bird nesting boxes. This makes her happy because she gardens and loves the outdoors.GreatLove itjust loved it
